My Story

When did you join NEST?

November 2023

Why did you decide to join NEST?

I decided to join NEST as it was the best position that aligned with my skill set.

What is it about NEST that keeps you engaged with the work/mission?

The work and the mission of NEST amazes me, and it reveals a bigger picture that I want to be part of. I have devoted my service to public and private accounting, VITA during college, the visual and performing arts; as well as sitting on the board of directors for another non-profit and on the Middletown Wetlands and Watercourse Commission present thru 2027.

For me, the best story so far is the day our colleague Dan wanted to pop the balloon arbor to return it and everyone joined in for a candid photo op. It feels wonderful to be part of a family.

Looking forward, what are your greatest hopes for the future of NEST?

Looking forward I see myself working at the Love & Care Community Garden and with community grassroots groups. I compost and use captured rainwater in my own garden and have some ideas about mushrooms, soil, and vegetables. I’ve also established Artists in the Middletown Area to give back to my neighbors an activity that they may have never thought possible. Maybe try it in Waterbury! www.ArtistsintheMiddletownArea.com  It’s an opportunity to paint en plein aire for FREE as MCA Middletown Commission of the Arts provided me a matching grant to provide easels, paints, canvases and supplies.

What are 3 things you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy live music by attending concerts. I enjoy gardening, yoga and oil painting whenever I get the chance. I have won awards for some artwork and usually have a commission for sale that I am working on.
